The Sour Taste of Success
Clean sweep in the 'Other' beer category at Heeley Farm Beer Festival
I am extremely pleased that my three of my home brews achieved a clean sweep in the 'Other' beer category at the excellent Heeley Farm Beer Festival. In the first beer festival I have attended in some time my beers won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the category which comprised sours, saisons, gruits and other weird beers.

The CAMRA judges were hugely impressed with my Grapefruit and Szechuan Pepper sour and suggested I ought to try producing in commercially. One daty I might! They also liked the 2nd placed Gruit (a medieval style beer brewed without hops) and the 3rd placed Oak and Pomegranate Sour - which has a very red wine-like richness.
The winning beers
If anyone would like me to create a sour ingredient kit so they can try producing some of these beers at home please get in touch and I will put one together for you, to your personal requirements.
I highly recommend attending the Heeley Beer Festival next year - it was an truly excellent event. Bring along some of your beers for the home brew competition. For more info visit https://www.heeleyfarm.org.uk/
